The Initiation Rite of the University of Vaasa is an annual tradition where the new freshmen are ‘baptised’ as members of the student union.
After the magnificent kick-off show, the real initiation begins when students are divided into groups and go around different checkpoints in the Hovioikeudenranta area. It is recommended that you wear clothes according to the weather (it could be raining), since you will be spending the whole afternoon outside.
You will do yourself (and your group) a HUGE favour if you buy your drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic, BYOB!!! Bring Your Own Beer!!!) beforehand!
After the initiation race, it is time to drop by at home, change into your clubbing clothes and head over to Fontana, where the official after-party is held and where a very awesome band called STOCKERS! will be performing. Best teams of the race will be rewarded with amazing prices later in the evening at Fontana, so be there or be a square!
